Zanzibar Extension

Relax on a Zanzibar beach, watching a local fisherman

A Zanzibar sunset over a dhow on the Indian Ocean
Enjoy the white sands & blue sea of Zanzibar
Zanzibar - beautiful beach, beautiful views, & beautiful climate!

Whether trekking or walking, our adventure holidays are active and challenging, making three days relaxing on the Zanzibar beach break even more special and appealing!  This four day extension includes transfer to and cost of Arusha hotel on half board basis;
all travel, accommodation for three nights on Zanzibar & food on a half board basis as detailed below; return to Arusha and transfer to Kilimanjaro airport, or return to Dar es Salaam airport (subject to flight arrangements, which may also make it necessary to have an extra night in a hotel before the return flight).

At the end of your trek/walk, you are transferred by road to your hotel (generally the Impala Hotel) in Arusha for a very welcome hot shower, and to enjoy a relaxing overnight stay including dinner and breakfast.  You will be collected from your hotel the next morning and driven to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar International Airport, 6 kms south of Stone Town.

Zanzibar needs no introduction - known internationally and romantically as 'the spice island'. This archipelago of Zanzibar (Unguja), Pemba and many other small islands 40kms off the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean, has long been one of the most popular destinations for those seeking sun and relaxation.  The biggest attractions of Zanzibar are its miles of idyllic white sandy beaches backed by palm trees, pristine coral reefs and water sports both on and in the shallow, turquoise sea, which can all be enjoyed in the average temperatures of around 28 degrees C.

Then there is the historic and exotic 'capital' of Stone Town to explore and savour as well.  People have been visiting Stone Town since the 8th century, and with the Mosque at Kizimkazi dating to 1107, there is a wealth of ancient history and culture to be found within the town.  A day in Stone Town makes an excellent excursion and contrast from your beach-based short break.

We offer a choice of two hotels to suit different budgets.  The Shooting Star Lodge is on the east coast of Zanzibar, on the beautiful Kiwengwa beach with fantastic views of the ocean, and is a family-run, good quality hotel.  Accommodation at the Shooting Star is priced below based on a standard Garden Lodge room, and we can also quote for a superior Sea View Cottage room.  The other hotel is the Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel, which is a longer road transfer from Stone Town and situated on the northernmost tip of the island.  It is a high-quality hotel with a high standard of facilities and services.  Accommodation at Ras Nungwi is priced below based on a standard Lodge room with garden view, and we can also quote for superior or deluxe Chalets with sea views.  If you wish to organise any water sports (eg snorkelling, diving, kayaking, water-skiing, windsurfing etc) during your stay they can be arranged between you and the hotel at any time.  Please note the water sport activities are all optional extras for you to settle directly with the hotel.

If you want to relax and soak up the sun or be more active and experience some of the water sports on offer, the Zanzibar beach break
is hard to beat.
