The heart and soul of an East African Adventure - sunrise over Kilimanjaro
Specializing in adventure holidays to Tanzania and Kenya

Mount Kenya

Leaving Nairobi to start the adventure to climb Mt Kenya, there is a wealth of different sights, sounds and smells as we travel across African plains. Seeing Masai shepherds tending their livestock, traditional style dwellings, small communities and typical African views means the experience has well and truly begun before we even start to see Mt Kenya in the distance, getting bigger as we near it. Mt Kenya is surrounded by swathes of lush forest, giving way to alpine moorland with the top a striking mass of rock peaks that are often covered in snow.

Our trek up Mt Kenya climbs and descends on different routes, which traverse the mountain allowing us to see much more of the mountain's character than just using the one route. Trekking to Point Lenana at 4985 metres for sunrise, the views from Mt Kenya are excellent, of the forests below and African plains in the Great Rift Valley. On a clear day the snows of Kilimanjaro can be seen over 250 km away! To climb Mt Kenya, a world famous peak, is a great and attainable achievement for most adventure travellers!

Why not extend your trip and enjoy East Africa for a little longer either by combining any of our trips, or by adding a safari or beach extension detailed on our Trip Extensions page.
